1. Where these guidelines apply
Tunely is for making songs and sharing them with people you care about. These guidelines cover everything other people can see: public and unlisted songs, embedded players, profiles, playlists, and comments. They explain our Terms of Service in plain language. If the two ever differ, the Terms apply.
Private songs are only visible to you, but they still need to follow the Terms. That includes the rules about copyright and illegal content.
2. Songs
Share songs that are yours to share. Profanity alone does not break these guidelines. Songs with explicit language may carry an explicit label; that label is separate from a safety restriction.
- Only use lyrics you wrote or have permission to use. Don’t paste in another artist’s lyrics.
- Don’t present a song as the work of a real artist, or suggest that an artist or brand endorses it.
- Criticism, satire, breakup songs, roasts, and diss tracks are welcome when they do not cross into targeted abuse. Naming a person is not automatically harassment.
- Fictional violence, horror, grief, addiction, and recovery are valid subjects for a song. Context matters: discussing harm is different from encouraging it.
- Ordinary adult themes and non-graphic sexual innuendo are allowed. Pornographic sexual content is not. People as young as 13 can listen on Tunely.
AI can produce surprising results. Listen before you share, and make anything that misses the mark private.
3. Content you cannot share
These limits apply to public and unlisted songs, embedded players, profiles, playlists, and comments:
- Threats, targeted harassment or humiliation, sexually degrading attacks on a person, or encouragement to stalk or harass someone.
- Hateful attacks against people based on protected characteristics, such as race, religion, nationality, disability, sex, sexual orientation, or gender identity.
- Encouragement or instructions for serious violence, self-harm, suicide, or other dangerous wrongdoing.
- Sharing someone’s private information without permission, harmful impersonation, fraud, or scams.
- Pornographic sexual content, sexual exploitation, non-consensual sexual content, or any sexual content involving minors.
We consider the content and its context. Calling an identifiable threat a joke or fiction does not make it acceptable. Repeated unwanted targeting can be harassment even when each individual post seems mild.
4. Profiles
Your profile is public, so make it represent you honestly.
- Don’t impersonate another person, artist, or brand, or choose a handle meant to mislead people.
- Your name, photo, and bio follow the same safety rules as the content you share.
- Don’t post anyone else’s private information without permission. Keep your own private information out of your public profile, too.
We may reclaim a handle that’s used to impersonate someone or that infringes someone else’s rights.
5. Playlists
Playlist titles, descriptions, and looks follow the same rules as songs and profiles.
In a group playlist, add songs that fit and respect what others contribute. The playlist’s owner decides who takes part and can remove members or songs. If a group isn’t working for you, you can leave at any time.
6. Comments
Comments are where creators hear what people think. Honest feedback is welcome. Cruelty isn’t.
- Critique the song without targeting its creator for harassment, threats, or hateful abuse. Profanity alone is not a violation.
- No spam, repeated promotion, or comments that just link somewhere else.
- Don’t follow someone from song to song to harass them.
You can delete your own comments at any time. On your own songs, you can delete any comment or turn comments off with Allow comments in the song’s sharing settings.
7. Fair play
- Don’t fake likes, follows, comments, or plays, or try to game Explore.
- Don’t create extra accounts to reset a free allowance or get around a restriction.
- Don’t scrape Tunely, automate access without permission, or try to reach songs that aren’t shared with you.
- When you embed a song, keep the player’s link back to Tunely, and don’t suggest the creator or Tunely endorses your site.
8. Reporting a problem
If content breaks these guidelines, use Report, contact us, or email [email protected]. Include:
- The link to the song, profile, playlist, or comment.
- What’s wrong with it, including an audio timestamp if the problem is in the song.
- How we can reach you if we have questions.
Reports help us investigate; they are not votes. A high report count alone does not establish a violation. Don’t file knowingly false reports or organize reports to silence someone. We do not disclose your identity to the reported person, except where required by law.
Reporting copyright infringement? Send a DMCA notice to [email protected]. Our Copyright & DMCA Policy explains what to include, and how to respond if your content was removed.
If you’re in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services first.
9. Blocking someone
Blocking a creator limits interactions and hides their content from you while you are signed in. It also prevents new follows, comments between your accounts, and playlist invitations. The person you block is not told and can still see your public content, and their earlier comments on your songs stay up until you delete them. Blocking does not make public content private: it may still be visible while signed out or through another account. Report threats or harassment as well as blocking the person.
10. What we do about it
We use automated checks and human review to apply these rules. Checks can assess titles, lyrics, transcripts of generated vocals, and other text you share. They can make mistakes or miss context. Sharing may wait while checks finish; you can continue creating songs privately.
If content appears to violate these rules, we may temporarily restrict access while it is assessed. A sharing restriction applies to public pages, unlisted links, and embedded players. Changing the visibility or sharing link does not bypass it. Audio links already issued may keep working for up to five minutes. We cannot recall audio already buffered, downloaded, or shared outside Tunely.
An automated flag alone does not delete your song, create an account strike, or take away credits. We explain the applicable rule and whether a restriction was automated. You can edit the content for another check or appeal for human reconsideration. A staff restriction stays in place after edits until a further staff review restores sharing. If we asked you to edit something, saving your changes sends it back to us for review. Include any context we missed. You can also contact us if you cannot use the appeal control.
We prioritize reports involving serious safety risks. Review times depend on urgency and the information needed; reporting is not an emergency service. If we made a mistake, we can restore sharing without an account penalty for the overturned restriction.
Serious or repeated confirmed violations can lead to restrictions or account suspension following human review. Illegal content, urgent safety concerns, and legal obligations may require additional action, including removal or reporting to the appropriate authorities. These guidelines do not promise permanent storage of content.
